When people book in for their first cherubs photo shoot, we try and encourage them to come in as early as possible. We have absolutely no expectations for this shoot (they usually cry or sleep throughout!), but its great for capturing those few very short months when a baby is really tiny and tends to curl up beautifully. Although our cut off age is four months, the newborn shoot is all about how tiny your baby is and the younger we do it, the better their progression shows across all three shoots when the scheme is over.
We had a tiny newborn in recently at just three weeks old! She started out asleep and then opened her eyes up after that so we got a few very cute yawning and stretching ones. In between all the crying (as newborns always do) we also got some great family photos.

Before a couple gets married we like to meet up with them and do a pre wedding shoot. This is really good to get them used to being photographed, especially if they don’t feel particularly comfortable in front of a camera. It also means they end up with a lovely set of photos which we print on to mini cards to put on the tables at the wedding. The guests get to keep them and it has all the information as to where and when all the pictures go online.
Before the shoot, Kat will usually quiz the couple on their interests, shared hobbies and wedding theme so that we can style the shoot and pick a location best suited to them and their wedding. For this session they have a regular place at Virginia Waters known as their ‘family photo spot’. It’s a bit of a running joke in this family as it’s where they went when she was pregnant and also after the birth of their son to have photos taken, so it was very fitting that we went there.
If you can brave the cold then this time of year is brilliant for location shoots as you can get wrapped up in jumpers, hats and scarves which look lovely and cosey, and the colours outside are just beautiful.
They also bought their six month old son along who wore a really cute wooly lion hat. Kat absolutely fell in love with him and got some great shots of him playing around in the autumn leaves! They were a great looking couple and we are really looking forward to shooting their wedding next month.

This sweet smiley baby came in the other week for his first cherubs baby club session. As well as getting some really cute shots which they are saving for a montage at the end of the three sessions, his parents ordered these beautiful thank you cards.
It’s really nice seeing our work in a different format, and we have a wide selection of cards to choose from to suit any occasion. This particular design can also have the photograph as a square, and the image itself is printed on a see through film which gives it a nice transparent look. They can be completely customised to have any words you like on the inside and on cover, and also make great Christmas cards.

The 2nd cherubs shoot is especially good for getting other members of the family involved in as it’s really interactive. We use lots of fun and games to keep their attention and make it as enjoyable as possible. Also by this stage they are sitting up, can stay still for longer as long as we give them lots of things to look at, which is also a lot easier on both Hannah and the parents!
In this case we photographed these two cousins who are just a few months apart in age. It was really interesting to see their little similarities and differences in their personalities during the session. The slightly older baby is very active and his cousin absolutely loves him. Whilst one is crawling already, the other is not yet, hence the high chairs which we used to keep them in one place. As you can see it made for some hilarious shots as they looked like they could be hosting a chat show! We also got some great individuals of Nathaniel once little Oliver had crawled away.

Exactly two years ago we shot a wedding at Heatherden Hall in Pinewood studios with Lora and Neil which you may have seen if you have been to the studio as it features in one of our sample albums. This couple decided to make it a tradition to come back to Artis every year on the date of their anniversary. A year ago they came back to the studio for a post wedding shoot which was especially poignant as it was their paper anniversary, which they decided to make a feature of in the photos. They used some of our mounts (and a bit of manipulation in Photoshop!) to create some fun and quirky scenarios!
Then just a few weeks ago they returned again with the newest addition to their family – a beautiful baby girl for her first cherubs session. As you can see they got some great photos of the whole family. A brilliant time was had by all and it was lovely to see them again. They have it planned that their third cherubs shoot will fall about a year from now, and as we keep getting great photos from them hopefully they will keep coming back in years to come!
It really goes to show that after we photograph your wedding or portrait session, it doesn’t have to be the end. We often form a special bond with our customers, and it’s great to keep in touch and capture these special moments as the family continues to grow.

When you think of corporate headshots you may think of stiff, prim and proper photographs that all look the same. Where possible, we find it is always nice to add some personality to the images that can reveal something a bit more about that person. Although we can do some interesting shots in the studio, we particularly love doing them out on location.
We had the pleasure of shooting for a local designer and lecturer at her house, which she designed herself and was an amazing space. She was very apprehensive about having her portrait taken to start with, but soon settled in to it which was probably helped by being in her familiar surroundings. We got some really lovely photos for her which she is using to promote her books and seminars that she speaks at.

They always say to never work with children or animals, so last week we did both at the same time! We shot a really cute 2nd cherubs session with the added bonus of Dexter, their pet rabbit. This little boy and five year old Dexter are the best of friends and it really shows in these photographs. They were both so well behaved and all this bunny needed was a chomp on a tasty carrot to keep his attention. He actually behaved better than many dogs and cats that we get in the studio!

We always love having siblings in at our studio, and this shoot was no different. This ‘coming of age’ shoot was bought by their parents and resulted in a gorgeous montage of the first three images, which will serve as a lovely reminder when they have flown the nest and gone off to uni! Teenagers are sometimes a bit reluctant with photo shoots but these two were excellent. It really was a pleasure to shoot as they got on so well and everyone had a brilliant time.
As well as some shots for their parents they also had the chance to get some more edgy model photos done for themselves. The girl had recently had a gorgeous tattoo done on her back which was set off perfectly by the dark moody lighting.
