Artis Studios photography course
Back by popular demand, on Sunday 25th September we will be running another photography course. It will be the same as the previous ones, so those of you who could not make it before have another chance!
This is not a heavily technical course but a course that will look at what makes a good photo.  We will be showing techniques that make the difference between a normal photograph and something really special.  It is mainly aimed at those who have a digital SLR camera, but are not confident shooting off automatic, or are not getting the results they want. Hannah and Kat will provide one to one assistance to get you improving your photos.
The course will feature a short amount of theory around the basics, and then move onto work in our studio as well as on location with a model.  We will also be covering the post processing of images (Photoshop) and working with each person individually to make sure they get results that they are looking for.
We will be running the course from 10am – 6pm and spaces are limited to 6 people. The cost of the day is £180, including lunch, and you must own your own digital SLR.
If you have any other questions or would like to book in for the course please call the studio on 01344 870033. To secure your place, all we need is a £50 deposit, or if you know someone else who would like to take part, we sell gift vouchers.

Wedding Colour Themes – ‘Cadbury’s’ Purple

Filed under Weddings • Written by artisstudios @ 1:02 pm

We shot a wonderful wedding in Bath last week with the Ceremony taking place at the All Saints Church, Weston and then onto the Tythe Barn at Priston Mill.  The weather was fantastic without being too hot and just enough clouds to create stunning skyscapes.

We particularly noticed how striking the chosen colour scheme looked in our photos.  A deep purple (that reminded us of Cadbury’s chocolate) looked fantastic everywhere it featured.  Not only were the bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing this colour, but there was just enough of it sprinkled in the bouquets, the table placements and aisle decorations.  We particularly loved how it was naturally present at the reception venue in the form of lavender bushes lining the paths.  The colour looked amazing against all the greenery the Bath countryside has to offer!

Everyone there had a great time and the attention to detail was fantastic.  The table placements consisted of cute little presents, wrapped in a purple ribbon, and each table was represented by a different bird.  For that reason we couldn’t resist at the end waiting for a local duck and duckling to position themselves in front of the striking lavender, with the barn behind it as a final photo to sum up the wedding.  A brilliant day!

Kids of Sunninghill Combination Photoshoots

Filed under Portraits • Written by artisstudios @ 1:35 pm

Over the summer we have been running our popular Kids of Sunninghill scheme in which for a £20 donation to Sebastian’s Action Trust, our customers can have a photoshoot and their children featured in our Kids of Sunninghill coffee table book. All photoshoots have taken place on location in the local area, which is great not only for portraying a snapshot of a generation, but showing the Sunninghill area at a particular point in time.

However, we have had some customers who really wanted  a session in our studio, and so we came up with the brilliant idea of combining shoots! This can be a real bonus for both us, and the client. We get to spend more time with their children both in the studio and on location which is great for forming bonds with them. When the customer comes to view their photos, we can combine both shoots so they can view them at the same time. We can offer a wider choice of photos as well as the customer being able to benefit from both our regular, and our Kids of Sunninghill packages.

Here are some recent families who opted to do both Kids of Sunninghill and a regular portrait session. The first family had two very energetic shoots in the studio and then in South Ascot where the boys showed off their BMX skills! With the second family we got some lovely sibling shots at Victory Fields.

If you would like to participate in Kids of Sunninghill, it’s not too late! We are running the scheme until the end of August so please call our studio on 01344 870033 for more information.

St Sophia’s Cathedral, London

We had the pleasure of photographing a fantastic, large, lively greek wedding last week.  The day started and ended at the newly refurbished Runnymede-on-Thames hotel in Surrey.  The guests all got ready at the hotel and boarded a double decker coach to take them into London, to Bayswater where the ceremony was being held.

Situated amongst the busy streets of London was the beautiful Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia, the oldest surviving Greek Cathedral in London.  We were amazed by the interior of the Cathedral.  The walls are elaborately decorated with polichromatic marble and the golden domed roof had built in windows that gave the impression that it was glowing.

These made for truly epic photos.  The ceremony held several different greek traditions that kept us on our toes, photographing great moment after great moment.  Below are some of our favourite moments from the ceremony.

The rest of the day was equally great with some great shots in and around london and a very lively reception with lots of dancing.
