Last week saw us shooting a military wedding in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Both the groom and his best man were in their uniforms, and although the best man is a higher rank (the big joke of the day!) the groom has more medals as he has been to war. Their page boy was also in uniform and made an honourary soldier with a plastic sword, which he spent the day trying to fight people with, including the bride!
Knowing that Jimmy was going to Afghanistan for four months, we offered to turn around the wedding in extra fast time so that the they could view their wedding photos together.
It was a wonderful day and they were a great couple to photograph!

The Elvetham is one of our favourite venues to photograph at and we particularly love the archways in the porch area you as you enter the building. The medieval architecture is fantastic throughout the whole venue, but we love these archways as well as the balcony situated above.
Our most recent wedding couple shared our love of this porch as the balcony is where Doug proposed to Victoria. We used a variety of opportunities throughout the day to utilise these great archways and once up on the balcony, we made full use of the dramatic sky and surrounding landscapes. We ended our day at the Elvetham by borrowing the bride and groom from their guests to do some evening portraits. We got some fantastic lighting and colours at this time and think it was a fantastic end to the day.
The Elvetham was the perfect choice for this wonderful couple’s special day and made for a truly elegant, beautiful wedding.

As photojournalistic wedding photographers a big appeal to our style is how we capture the guests personalities and capture the ‘essence’ of the day.
This was really evident at our recent wedding at Oakley Court, Windsor where there were some real characters! We had a great time capturing the big personalities while they roared with laughter at funny photos of themselves, the extrovert kids who were more than happy to ‘play up’ for the camera, the father of the bride loved his moments in the spotlight and the animated reunions between families.
The bride and grooms characters came through in abundance with their extravagant cake complete with icing cherubs, the hot pink lighting setup for both the ceremony and wedding breakfast but more so the sweet and tender moments they regularly shared throughout the day.
We had a really fun time shooting this wedding and the fun that Marianna, Simon and all the guests had shone through in the photos!
We’ve been keeping busy this summer with lots of location shoots. However, you have probably noticed the weather has been somewhat unpredictable. This can be a concern for those on our cherubs scheme as the third shoot is on location.
Most people envisage a location shoot outdoors, however we have gotten some fantastic results photographing indoors. Shooting indoors has many benefits; we don’t need to worry about our unpredictable British weather, there is much more lighting control indoors giving some fantastic results and kids and their parents are often more comfortable being photographed in their home environment!
When shooting in homes especially, we are able to incorporate kids toys, get great smiles by letting them do things they wouldn’t normally be allowed to (jumping on the bed), play peekaboo using the couch and create family photos without mum and dad having to leave the couch.
So when scheduling your location shoot, don’t just think outdoors at a park. Some of our most interesting shoots have been indoors at customers homes, relatives houses and hotels. This way we don’t need to worry about the weather!

Last Saturdays took me back to London to shoot a wonderful Civil Partnership at the National Theatre. George and Richard had exquisite taste and we started the day in the newly re-opened Savoy Hotel, London. The couple and friends enjoyed some Champagne at the hotel before walking across the bridge to their ceremony and reception venue, which just happened to be the National Theatre! George and Richard are big fans of the theatre therefore the venue was perfect for them, not to mention the ceremony took place on the roof in an open, glass walled room.
Knowing the couples love for theatre I thought it would be appropriate to do a few shots inside the theatre. As a special request, I organised with the co-ordinator at The National Theatre to let us in to The Olivier in-between the matinee and evening performance to do some great group shots, and some of George and Richard together. The couple even got to enjoy watching the cast rehearse for that evenings performance.
It was a real pleasure to photograph in such amazing locations and with such lovely people. We love specialising in Civil Partnership Photography as we constantly get to photograph really unique and different ceremonys. A great day!
