February Pet Photography

Hannah LOVES the challenge of pet shoots, and they definitely are a challenge, especially when you include more than one dog and their humans! But that’s what makes the persistence and patience all the more with it when you capture great moments and expressions.

We have been raising money for Change for Animals Foundation with our February pet offer. Here are some of the great images we have captured over the last month.

Senior Photo Shoots in Berkshire

One of Hannah’s favourite genre’s to shoot is senior sessions. These are more common in North America, but for those who haven’t heard of them they are simply a ‘coming of age’ session for teenagers who are soon to be graduating. Its a real honour to capture their personality as it is now in a senior photo shoot, before they fly the nest. These shoots can be done at local locations, such as Virginia Water or at our Sunninghill Studio.

We are lucky enough to have quite a few International Schools in Berkshire and Surrey whose students go on to use the images from their portrait session as their yearbook picture. Its always fun to help in the selection process as often the ones the teenagers like of themselves are not the same as the parents favourites! I always advice that the yearbook picture should be picked by the teenager and represent how they/their friends see them. Then the parents favourites are the ones that they get to keep - usually as prints and digital files to easily transport around the world.

Here are a few favourites from the last year - one of which won Hannah The MPA South Central Classical Portrait Winner and MPA South Central Studio Portrait Winner 2018. If your teenager is due to graduate and you would like to book a senior session, give us a call on 01344 870033 or contact us via the website.

Every Dog Deserves a Portrait

Personal projects are very important for keeping Hannah creative and inspired, and this year we have decided to put her skills with pets to the test by creating a panel of images of injured or disabled dogs - all in the studio, in black and white.

We had our first dog Eden in last week. Eden was found living feral after being dumped to fend for herself. She was due to be put to sleep but luckily Tracey, her owner, volunteered to rescue her. She now has Degenerative Myelopathy which is a wasting disease affecting the hind limbs, hence her using the chair to get around (which she is very fast in, as we found out at the shoot!)

If you have, or know anyone, with any injured or disabled dogs that would be interested in joining our project we are offering a free hour shoot (worth £75) and also £200 voucher to spend on photos from the shoot. Do get in touch via enquiries@artisstudios.com with your dogs story and some photos. We can't guarantee to be able to use everyone as we have limited spaces available for these shoots, but we would love to hear from you.

Crossfit Photography

TBT Saturday 23rd December 2017 and the last job of the year for us was not our usual work, but awesome nonetheless!  Form Over Fame is a Crossfit clothing brand that wanted some lifestyle shots to show how the garments fit to the body when in motion.  I love their ethos of focusing on technique - check them out here.

Crossfit is a huge passion of mine and I love to photograph the movements involved and the athletes I aspire to be like one day.  Here are a few of our favourite shots from the day.

Behind the scenes - the whole process

One of our favourite customers who we have been photographing for the last 10 years or so returned this year to update their family photos. Its always lovely to see them and we used the opportunity to do a little video all about having a portrait session and the natural, timeless images you end up with.

Extended Families

It's always such a lovely experience to bring extended family together. Whether you see each other every month or once a year, why not use a photo shoot as a good excuse for a get together. A nice big picture on the wall always makes a fantastic gift to grandparents (who often already have everything they need). Here are a few we have done recently, both in the studio and out on location.

Senior Yearbook Portraits

We have just wrapped up another batch of ‘Senior’ portraits for a local School’s year book photos.  Each year students come to us for a year book photograph with a difference, something that captures their personality and a photo they are proud to share with their friends and family.  I am truly honoured to be able to photograph these young adults and to provide their families with beautiful portraiture of their children (who let’s face it are no longer children),  before they graduate into adulthood and go off on their own adventure!

Each shoot fills me with excitement as every student brings their own personality and flair to the session and although may find the initial prospect daunting, by the end of the shoot exudes confidence and their true character shines through.  I love photographing each individual, getting to know them, getting to try out new ideas and styles and generally  have the best time with them!  I hear they have a pretty good time too!!  Here’s some of our favourites…

Autumn Portrait Shoots

Now I’ll admit that when the cold starts to come it can be some tough months, with the lack of sunshine and cold weather (she says with a warm heater blowing on her).  BUT, winter can produce some absolutely amazing days for photo shoots!  With the sun setting earlier sunrise/sunset shots can be captured easily and the soft light makes it perfect for portrait photography.  If the thought of going outside puts you off, don’t worry as home shoots work perfectly too and offer the easy option of flitting inside and outside.

Check out some of the shoots we have done over the last few months. We’ve had great fun getting out there with our customers, wrapping up warm and enjoying those crisper days!  Call us today on 01344 870033 to discuss  your next family photo shoot.

FINALIST ENTRIES IN THE INTERNATIONAL MASTER PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION AWARDS 2016

We are very proud to have SEVEN of our images in the finals for the International Master Photographers Association Awards. It is always very hard to pick these images, and as we are so busy we always seem to submit them at 11.50pm on the last day! It was definitely worth getting them in though.

Here they are. Wish us luck!
